        I spent thirty-?ve years of my sober life helping others. I worked all the steps in Alcoholics Anonymous religiously, but my happiness only lasted for moments. Joy, I thought, meant getting the things I wanted (relationships, money, success); most of the time, I felt alone and depressed. Thirty years sober, I was on the verge of running, going back to doing things on my own, and possibly losing my sobriety. That was when God called me, and I would learn about Jesus, my Lord, and Savior. I was sixty years old when I discovered Jesus. My life would be meaningless without my relationship with Jesus. I learned Jesus could give me joy regardless of the circumstances in my life. Truth never changes; knowledge of God's word and living by His example gave me spiritual joy. Being manic-depressive and by-polar ?nding Jesus, I no longer feel alone. I have been studying the Bible for over ten years. I had so many conceptions and prejudices toward God. Jesus didn't come down to condemn me; He gave me choices on the way I live and feel. Regardless of my circumstances, my age, or how broken I think, Jesus gives you hope! Regardless of Religion and what others taught you about God, Jesus wants you to have a personal relationship of your own. Following His example will lead to eternal freedom!
