      • Résumé :
When the pig-tailed wallflower is plucked onto the dance floor by Mr. African-American Bandstand, love learns to Watusi. Can Robert pull baton-twirler Debbie, out of the shadow of her ambitious twin brother and her glamorous best friend? What will her Capital High friends say when she brings around her tall, dark, and handsome beau? Robert's own tight-knit family is alarmed when he shows a preference for blondes. One blonde in particular. His father is an important faith leader keeping ethnic harmony in their Midwest community amid the discord of riots rocking the country in 1968. When their parents decide that their dating is dangerous, they go undercover. Under the covers is where certain danger lies. Soon they are hiding an explosive secret. Ten years later, they're living the dream in South Carolina. But old tensions and tragedy ignite close to home bringing them back to defend family and heal old wounds. How can they keep his brother out of prison if her brother fails to save him? Who knew that a twirl around the dance floor would set both families ablaze? This baby-boomer back to the 1960s interracial teen romance is the second book in the Twirler Quartet series set in Lincoln, Nebraska. Debbie and Robert's unrelenting attraction and resilience forces their families to find common ground. This is a stand-alone novel but second in the Twirler Quartet series ....

        Biographie:
I write books I like to read: funny, sexy contemporary romances with a touch of history and romantic suspense--alpha heroes, smarter heroines. Pretty covers with spice to entice. Her Side of History was about ancestors, reimagining what life was like in 1869-1945. The first series I wrote, The Twirler Quartet, featured Baby Boomers in their 1960s heyday-- teen pregnancy, war, race riots, hippies, closeted lesbians. My Romancing Our Roots series explores how DNA discoveries have led to drama....

        Sommaire:
Claudia Johnson Severin lives on a farm in Southeast Nebraska, where the Severin family homesteaded in 1869. History is literally in the soil where her house stands. The land was once home to cows, horses, chickens, and children. They have all moved on, but she stayed to tell the tales. She grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the Eastridge neighborhood. She went back to her high school twirler days for the Twirler Quartet series. Like her main characters, she found hours of practice together developed friendships which led to many adventures outside of school.Like Yvonne, she graduated from the University of Nebraska with a journalism degree. She also worked at Lincoln Telephone Company. Like Debbie, she met her husband at a dance. Like Nancy, some of her boyfriends chose a military career during the Vietnam conflict. Like Linda, she never wanted to be pigeon-holed.All four books have been published in the Twirler Quartet series: Catch It Spinning, Twirling Fire, Learning To Twirl, and Spinning Sideways. She previously wrote Her Side of History-Finding My Foremothers' Footprints, an anthology of historical fiction about four of her family's female ancestors.Writing about past decades gives her a chance to rewrite history and gives the characters a chance to benefit from lessons learned in the meantime. She loved the 1960s but wouldn't trade her smartphone for a teen line or her SUV for her old Volkswagen Beetle....
