Mbizo Chirasha's poetry goes beyond what we know as poetry in Europe or North America. Mbizo Chirasha is above all an oral poet, someone who starts out from the spoken rhythms of the language of the povo, the common people - with everything that it can express: all those sorrows, all the longings, all hopes. The literary journal Evergreen Review, published by the renowned New Directions publishing house in New York, recently published several of Mbizo Chirasha's poems. This poet of the povo is finally beginning to be noticed in the centers of the globalized world by readers who are increasingly interested in world literature.

Mbizo Chirasha wurde 1978 in Simbabwe geboren. Er fand wegen der Qualit?t seiner Dichtung und wegen seines Engagements mehrere Jahre lang gro?e Beachtung auf dem Harare Lit Fest. Ab 2017 lebte er einige Jahre im Exil. Er ist Autor mehrerer Gedichtb?nde und vielfach in Literaturzeitschriften vertreten. Unter anderem war er Poet in residence in Kairo, ?gypten und in Ghana und nahm an einem Literaturprojekt in Tansania teil. Der Gedichtband Uhuru ist sein erster sich an ein deutschsprachiges Publikum wendender Gedichtband. Mbizo Chirasha was born in Zimbabwe in 1978. He attracted a lot of attention at the Harare Lit Fest for several years because of the quality of his poetry and because of his commitment. Since early 2017, he lived in exile for a few years. He is the author of several volumes of poetry and is widely featured in literary magazines. Among other things, he was a poet in residence in Cairo, Egypt and Ghana and took part in a literary project in Tanzania. The bilingual poetry book Uhuru is his first volume of poetry aimed simultaneously at German-speaking readers and at an international, English-speaking audience.
