While surveying the ongoing global research activities in the area of Photorefractive Effect, one should appreciate its substantial relevance with fast growing technology and current area of research. PR-nonlinear optics plays an important role in various fields of science and engineering with numerous applications in pattern recognition, hand writing analysis, medical diagnosis and robotic vision of industrial inspection. Recently, the subject of optical neural nets has hit the media quite prominently. Thus, it appears reasonable to the researchers/scientists to examine the occurrence of such an important phenomenon in the compound semiconductors which have already established themselves as most potential candidate material in the field of optical communication and fast opto-electronic devices.
