Heretics is a collection of 20 essays by G. K. Chesterton. While the loci of the chapters of Heretics are personalities, the topics he debates are as universal to the vague moderns of the 21st century as they were to those of the 20th. He quotes at length and argues extensively against atheist Joseph McCabe, delivers diatribes about his close personal friend and intellectual rival, George Bernard Shaw, as well as Friedrich Nietzsche, H. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an English author, philosopher, Christian apologist, and literary and art critic, best known for creating the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. Born on May 29, 1874, in Kensington, London, Chesterton was educated at St. Paul's Juniors and University College London before studying at the Slade School of Fine Art. His career spanned a variety of genres, from fiction to essays, and he was deeply involved in Christian apologetics, with works like Orthodoxy and The Everlasting Man solidifying his place as a prominent thinker of his time. Chesterton's works often reflected his devotion to Christianity and his philosophical musings on society, morality, and faith. He was a close associate of Hilaire Belloc and was influenced by thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas and Charles Dickens. Chesterton married Frances Blogg in 1901, and the couple remained together until his death on June 14, 1936, at the age of 62 in Beaconsfield, United Kingdom. G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) was an English writer, philosopher and literary and art critic. Chesterton created the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. He decided to follow art as a career, and studied at the Slade School, where, while attending or not attending to his studies, he met Ernest Hodder-Williams, who encouraged Chesterton in his writing. At his request he reviewed a number of books for the Bookman and found himself launched on a profession he was to follow all his life. Probably his most famous stories are those of Father Brown, but he wrote much about every conceivable subject under or beyond the sun. His fiction works would sell well, with titles such as The Man Who Was Thursday, a thriller combining espionage and metaphysics, and The Everlasting Man, which chronicles mankind's spiritual journey....
