        Biographie:
        Lyn Fairchild Hawks holds a BA in English and an MA in education from Stanford University. She has taught English, creative writing, theater, and other humanities courses for more than fifteen years in public and independent schools and was recognized as a Distinguished Teacher with the Presidential Scholars program, among other awards. She also served for fifteen years as instructor, curriculum developer, teacher trainer, and director of curriculum and instruction for online learning in the Duke University Talent Identification program. Hawks is coauthor of The Compassionate Classroom: Lessons That Nurture Wisdom and Empathy and Teaching Romeo and Juliet: A Differentiated Approach and author of Teaching Julius Caesar: A Differentiated Approach. An MFA candidate in creative writing for children and young adults at the Vermont College of Fine Arts, Hawks also runs Success Story Essay Consulting, helping students use storytelling strategies to write a standout college admissions essay, and works with College Essay Guy training educators and coaching students. She is author of the YA novel How Wendy Redbird Dancing Survived the Dark Ages of Nought and the middle grade novella Minerda, and is represented by Tara Gelsomino of One Track Literary. Hawks lives in North Carolina with her husband, singer-songwriter Greg Hawks, and what the Bard would call a brindled cat, her master and familiar, Sonny. Her stepson, Henry, does sound design for film and TV in Hollywood.
