Olatunde Adeyemo has also written: Matrix Magic Which handles the topics of linear equations, and linear programming, the equations for handling projectiles in a retarding fluid and sets out how to create programs for 3D transformation of objects through general rotations or mirror imaging. A Little Rocket Science and other Baubles It uses a heuristic approach to solve network problems and demonstrates this in pipe network analysis in the water supply industry. The same approach is used to demonstrate how it may be used to work out the final configuration of a web of elastic members supporting various loads. We look at the rocket/payload problem, where the payload weighs much less than the fuel used to deliver it. We look at the various fuel options and make 1st order estimations of what these would take to put a known mass into orbit. Alien Pi in the Sky We show how the simple helical coil spring is a subtle way of amplifying the flexion properties of it's constituent material and how it can be optimised by design. We look at 1st principle stress and strain analysis in3D structures resolve loads on each member into compressional/extensional or bending or torquing.
