This textbook covers both fundamental and advanced Java database programming techniques for beginning and experienced students as well as programmers (courses related to database programming in Java with Apache NetBeans IDE 12 environment). A sample SQL Server 2019 Express database, CSE_DEPT, is created and implemented in all example projects throughout this textbook.

Over 40 real sample database programming projects are covered in this textbook with detailed illustrations and explanations to help students understand the key techniques and programming technologies. Chapters include homework and selected solutions to strengthen and improve students' learning and understanding for topics they study in the classroom.

Both Java desktop and Web applications with SQL Server database programming techniques are discussed and analyzed. Some updated Java techniques, such as Java Server Pages (JSP), Java Server Faces (JSF), Java Web Service (JWS), JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL), JavaBeans and Java API for XML Web Services (JAX-WS) are also discussed and implemented in the real projects developed in this textbook.

This textbook targets mainly advanced-level students in computer science, but it also targets entry-level students in computer science and information system. Programmers, software engineers and researchers will also find this textbook useful as a reference for their projects.

Biographie:

Dr. YING BAI is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Johnson C. Smith University. His special interests include: artificial intelligences, soft-computing, mix-language programming, fuzzy logic and deep learning, robotic controls, robots calibrations and database programming.

Since 2003, Dr. Bai has published seventeen (17) books with publishers such as Prentice Hall, CRC Press LLC, Springer, Cambridge University Press and Wiley IEEE Press. The Russian translation of his first book titled Applications Interface Programming Using Multiple Languages was published by Prentice Hall in 2005. The Chinese translation of his 8th book titled Practical Database Programming with Visual C#.NET was published by Tsinghua University Press in China in 2011. Most books are about artificial intelligence and soft-computing, software interfacing and serial port programming, database programming, fuzzy logic controls, microcontroller programming as well as classical and modern controls.

Dr. Ying Bai is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Johnson C. Smith University in USA. His special interests include: Intelligent controls, soft-computing, mix-language programming, fuzzy logic controls, robotic controls, robots calibrations and fuzzy multi-criteria decision making. His industry experience includes positions as software and senior software engineers at companies such as Motorola MMS, Schlumberger ATE Technology, Immix TeleCom, and Lam Research. Since 2003, Dr. Bai has published about 50 academic research papers in IEEE Trans. Journals and International conferences. He also published fourteen (14) books with publishers such as Prentice Hall, CRC Press LLC, Springer, Cambridge University Press and Wiley IEEE Press in recent years. The Russian translation of his first book entitled Applications Interface Programming Using Multiple Languages was published by Prentice Hall in 2005. The Chinese translation of his 8th book entitled Practical Database Programming with Visual C#.NET was published by Tsinghua University Press in China at the end of 2011. Dr. Zvi S. Roth received his B.Sc and M.Sc both in Electrical Engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in 1974 and 1979, respectively, and his Ph.D in Systems Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1983. He joined the Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he is presently a Professor in the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Dr. Roth has published two books, Fundamentals of Manipulator Calibration with Drs. Benjamin Mooring and Morris Driels (John Wiley 1991), Camera-Aided Robot Calibration with Dr. Hanqi Zhuang (CRC Press 1996). Dr. Roth served as Chair of the EE Department from 1993 to 1997, and from 2005 to 2008 as Director of the State of Florida funded Florida-Israel Institute. Additional research interests that Dr. Roth has developed over the years include Automation Design for Biotechnology, Submicron Analog Electronic Circuits Design and Modeling of Biological and Physiological Systems. He published over 50 refereed papers in journals and conferences and graduated 9 PhDs....
