      • Résumé :
Humankind survived its brush with extinction by a brutal, viral plague five hundred years ago. The foundations supporting this surprisingly swift recovery have been the Committee's global rule and the stabilizing protection offered by the heavily armored, airborne soldiers - the Dragons. Science has long been reviled as the cause of the viral catastrophe, and a powerful Code suppresses any advanced research and development in all fields. The business world is competitive and well-supported by a two-class social system comprised of the upper-class Gydes and the working-class Kahmen. Despite this comforting veneer of functionality, however, criminal seeds of disruption aided by secretive entities have germinated in the shadows. One man has seen it all and recognizes the growing threat emerging from the world's decadent and decaying stasis. He has long suspected that something more than the current, stagnant technology will be needed to turn the dark and rising tide. Something more than humans will be essential to wield his advanced nanite systems in the coming struggle. He has discovered that only those rare individuals possessing the Morgan-Jackson mutation, one of the everlasting remnants of the plague, are capable of physically and mentally interacting with his powerful creations. To successfully meld user and technology, however, will require his small group of select Mojacs to embrace a lifelong bond with their individual nanite system; they must make the Pact. This science fiction/dystopian novel is the first in a series that chronicles a fight for the world - a battle for humanity.

        Biographie:
Jim has had the honor of having three former careers from which he is now retired: an officer in the U.S. Air Force, a physician, and a teacher of science. A lifelong fascination with science fiction and fantasy - books, movies, and games - has fueled his enjoyment of writing in these genres. Over the years, his fictional worlds have been entwined with his deep admiration for nature and a relentless idealism toward a better world grounded on the premises of human equality, decency, and truth. Somehow, his family still loves him, for which he is ever grateful....

        Sommaire:
Humankind survived its brush with extinction by a brutal, viral plague five hundred years ago. The foundations supporting this surprisingly swift recovery have been the Committee's global rule and the stabilizing protection offered by the heavily armored, airborne soldiers. Science has long been reviled as the cause of the viral catastrophe, and a powerful Code has suppressed any advances in all fields. The business world is competitive and well-supported by a two-class social system, with a small upper class controlling the lower-class masses. Beneath this comforting veneer of functionality, organized crime has gained a foothold, and secretive entities stir in the shadows with their own plans. One man has seen it all and recognizes the growing threat emerging from the world's decadent and decaying stasis, but only the rare individuals possessing the Morgan-Jackson mutation, one of the plague's enduring genetic remnants, are physically and mentally capable of interacting with his powerful systems. Successfully melding user and technology, however, will require each member of his small group of select Mojacs to embrace a lifelong bond with their system. Each must make the Pact. This science fiction/dystopian novel is the first in a series that chronicles a struggle for leadership of our future world and its society....
