June has fled from the home she loves, and the only direction she can head is to the North, the Region where her father died in the war, enemy territory - and the only course she can take to save her life. Yet, in the Northern Region, June finds refuge from the burning days, and except for one NPF agent who has her in his sights, she finds friendship and even love on the road and in the Garden State.
