I have read few novels as exciting in recent years. Mantra is the one I have laughed the most with, the one I found more virtuous and at the same time more uncouth. --Roberto Bola?o What does a nostalgic brain tumor, a specter obsessed with masked wrestlers, and a hypothetical android searching for a missing creator through a world in ruins have in common? The answer to this question is not a simple one and needs us to address at least three essential aspects: a) the improbable, almost fantastic nature of a city like Mexico, Distrito Federal; b) the mysterious shadow of Mart?n Mantra, a prodigy film director and flamboyant messiah alike, and c) spicy food and polluted air, antient pyramids and modern airports, the day of the dead and the night of the living, spilled blood and tequila in the veins... A city out of a novel, and the novel of that city.
