Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem kollektiven Ged?chtnis ist zentraler Bestandteil im Werk des Konzeptk?nstlers Philipp Lachenmann (geb. 1963 in M?nchen; lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Los Angeles). In unterschiedlichen Medien und Materialien - von Malerei, Fotografie, Skulptur ?ber Text, Sound und Installation bis hin zu Video, Film und computergenerierten Werken - untersucht er die Entstehungsbedingungen und Funktionsweisen von Bildern und die dadurch geschaffenen Konfrontationen, Abgr?nde und Bruchstellen in der Gesellschaft. Neben medialen Ereignissen blickt Lachenmann in seinen Arbeiten auf Kunstgeschichte und historische Ereignisse.

Die Publikation DELPHI_Rationale nimmt die umfassende Einzelausstellung des K?nstlers in der ACE Gallery in Los Angeles (2017) zum Ausgangspunkt. Mit Texten von Heike Mertens, Marcus Steinweg und anderen.

Inspired by the Oracle of Delphi

The exploration of collective memory is central to the work of conceptual artist Philipp Lachenmann (b. Munich, 1963; lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles). Using a variety of media and materials-from painting, photography, and sculpture, to text, sound, installation, video, film, and computer-generated works-he examines the conditions of image production and how they function, as well as the social confrontations, chasms, and fractures they bring about. In addition to media events, Lachenmann's work also looks at art history and historical events.

The starting point for the monograph DELPHI_Rationale is the artist's comprehensive solo exhibition at ACE Gallery in Los Angeles (2017). With texts by Heike Mertens, Marcus Steinweg, and others.
