Yunjae naci? con alexitimia, una enfermedad que le impide reconocer y expresar emociones, y que est? asociada a un crecimiento inferior de la am?gdala cerebral, generalmente del tama?o de una almendra. Su madre soltera y su abuela hacen todo lo posible por ayudarlo a relacionarse con los dem?s, si bien en la escuela se enfrenta a la intimidaci?n y al rechazo de sus compa?eros por su comportamiento indolente. Pero un d?a ocurre la tragedia: en la tarde de su decimosexto cumplea?os, la madre y la abuela de Yunjae son v?ctimas de un violento ataque callejero que termina con su abuela muerta y su madre postrada en cama en estado vegetativo. Yunjae tendr? entonces que vivir solo y encargarse de la librer?a de libros usados de su familia. Es entonces cuando sucede el inesperado encuentro con Gon, un chico vol?til, propenso al mal humor y a las peleas, que ha sufrido una infancia traum?tica. Ambos son polos opuestos, pero el rechazo que sufren --cada uno por diferentes razones-- por una sociedad que no los entiende, hace que pasen de ser enemigos, a cultivar una peculiar amistad. ?Podr? la relaci?n con Gon, el encuentro con una chica llamada Dora que s?lo sue?a con correr, y su intervencion.

Yunjae was born with alexithymia, a disease that prevents him from recognizing and expressing emotions, and which is associated with undergrowth of the brain amygdala, usually the size of an almond. His single mother and his grandmother go out of their way to help him relate to others, although at school he faces bullying and rejection from his peers for his indolent behavior. But one day tragedy strikes: on the afternoon of his sixteenth birthday, Yunjae's mother and grandmother are victims of a violent street attack that ends with their grandmother dead and their mother bedridden in a vegetative state. Yunjae will then have to live alone and take care of his family's used bookstore. It is then that the unexpected encounter with Gon happens, a volatile boy, prone to bad humor and fights, who has suffered a traumatic childhood. Both are polar opposites, but the rejection they suffer - each for different reasons - by a society that does not understand them, makes them go from being enemies to cultivating a peculiar friendship. Can the relationship with Gon, the meeting with a girl named Dora who only dreams of running, and his intervention....

Won-pyung Sohn, obtuvo su licenciatura en Estudios Sociales y Filosof?a en la Universidad de Sogang, as? como la de Direcci?n de Cine en la Academia Coreana de Artes Cinematogr?ficas. Ha recibido varios premios y distinciones por su obra cinematogr?fica. Su debut literario lleg? en 2017, cuando su novela Almendra gan? el Premio Changbi de literatura juvenil y se convirti? inmediatamente en un ?xito de cr?tica y ventas. Su segunda novela, Born in 1988, gan? el Jeju 4.3 Peace Literary Award. En la actualidad, combina su actividad profesional como escritora, directora de cine y guionista.

Won-pyung Sohn received his BA in Social Studies and Philosophy from Sogang University, as well as a BA in Film Directing from the Korean Academy of Motion Picture Arts. She has received various awards and honors for her cinematographic work. His literary debut came in 2017, when her novel Almendra won the Changbi Prize for Young Adult Literature and immediately became a critical and best-seller. Her second novel, Born in 1988, won the Jeju 4.3 Peace Literary Award. Today, she combines her professional activity as a writer, film director and screenwriter.
