David W. Orr offers a sobering look at the causes and consequences of the coming climate destabilization, which he argues is the result of the largest political failure in history. While better technology and smarter economics are important to limit the eventual scope and scale of the problem, climate change will require fundamental changes in governance and leadership at all levels.
Biographie:
David W. Orr is the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics and Special Advisor to the President of Oberlin College. He is a trustee of the Bioneers, of the Rocky Mountain Institute, of the Aldo Leopold Foundation, among others. His numerous books include The Nature of Design (OUP, 2002), Ecological Literacy, The Last Refuge, and Earth in Mind.
Orr acknowledges [the] dire circumstances, but does not wallow in despair or defeatism.
