Résumé :
Child marriages have been the topic of debate for many years. Having been given in marriage at the tender age of fourteen, Lydia Chais retells her story of what it was like being married to a much older man, a man who had over-stepped his boundaries as her teacher and seduced her shortly after turning twelve. She recalls the verbal abuse, physical onslaughts, and the feelings of helplessness during those tumultuous years. By writing about her own personal experience, it is the hope from the author to be able to enlighten others about the serious consequences resulting from child marriages. Ms. Chais tells the story of Tessa who, at the age of twelve, gets seduced by her teacher Mr. Crosby and is sexually assaulted, resulting in her getting pregnant. Her life keeps getting worse when she loses her child to her tyrannical husband and starts losing her sanity...
Biographie:
Lydia Chais wrote Stolen Virtue, A Child Bride, in the hopes that parents be made aware of the grooming tactics employed against innocent children by unscrupulous persons. She is an historian and holds a masters degree in history. She has taught English skills to foreign students and has raised her son, who is also a writer, as a single mother. The book is not meant to offend, but to inform.
