Die Stadt Leverkusen im Fokus k?nstlerischer Praktiken

Public Fictions ist ein k?nstlerisch-transdisziplin?res Ausstellungsformat in Leverkusen. Das Projekt wurde von Anna Dietz (geb. 1984 in F?ssen; lebt und arbeitet in K?ln) und Johanna Terhechte (geb. 1994 in Berlin, lebt und arbeitet in D?sseldorf) ins Leben gerufen. Ungenutzte Orte und R?ume der Stadt wie Gesch?fte, Kioske, Parkfl?chen und ?ffentliche Pl?tze zu reaktivieren ist das Konzept der Initiatorinnen.

Aufgrund der geografischen N?he zu den am selben Fluss gelegenen Kunstmetropolen K?ln und D?sseldorf bietet Leverkusen einen weiteren M?glichkeitsraum f?r Kunst und Kultur. Beeinflusst von seiner historischen Entwicklung und den infrastrukturellen Gegebenheiten setzt sich Leverkusen sowohl st?dtebaulich als auch gesellschaftlich von anderen St?dten im Rheinland ab. Public Fictions kn?pft daran an und macht Leverkusen zur B?hne einer experimentellen kuratorischen und szenografisch-k?nstlerischen Praxis.

Die projektbegleitende Publikation versammelt k?nstlerische Beitr?ge zur Stadt Leverkusen. Ausgehend von dem Begriff des Entwurfes entwickelten die beteiligten K?nstler*innen Anna Budniewski, Anna Dietz, Philipp Farra, Thomas Gr?nfeld, Laura Leppert, Jorge Loureiro & Walter Solon, Nikolai Meierjohann, Andreas Miller, Florian Moldan, Peter Piller, Mika Schwarz, Miriam Stoney, Johanna Terhechte und Inga Charlotte Thiele inhaltliche wie gestalterische Text- und Bildbeitr?ge. Der Band wird als eigenst?ndige k?nstlerische Arbeit verstanden und dient zudem als Ausgangspunkt f?r weiterf?hrende ?berlegungen, die in verschiedenen Formaten pr?sentiert werden.

The city of Leverkusen seen through artistic practices

Public Fictions is a trans-disciplinary artistic exhibition format in Leverkusen. The project was initiated by Anna Dietz (b. 1984 in F?ssen; lives and works in Cologne) and Johanna Terhechte (b. 1994 in Berlin, lives and works in D?sseldorf) in order to reactivate unused places and spaces in the city like stores, kiosks, parking lots, and public squares.

Due to its geographical proximity to the art metropolises of Cologne and D?sseldorf, which are located on the same river, Leverkusen offers a further space of opportunity for art and culture. Influenced by its historical development and infrastructural conditions, Leverkusen has set itself apart from other cities in the Rhineland, both in terms of urban planning and social structure. Public Fictions builds on these specificities in order to make Leverkusen the stage for an experimental curatorial, scenographic, and artistic practice.

The publication accompanying the project brings together artistic contributions on the city of Leverkusen. Based on the concept of the sketch, the participating artists Anna Budniewski, Anna Dietz, Philipp Farra, Thomas Gr?nfeld, Laura Leppert, Jorge Loureiro & Walter Solon, Nikolai Meierjohann, Andreas Miller, Florian Moldan, Peter Piller, Mika Schwarz, Miriam Stoney, Johanna Terhechte, and Inga Charlotte Thiele developed textual and visual contributions. The volume is conceived as an artistic work in itself and also serves as a starting point for further reflections, which will be presented in various formats.
