Présentation The Owner's Representative Format Broché

Résumé :
This book offers valuable insights into the construction process for commercial buildings. It's written from the owner's perspective with a practical discussion of the challenges encountered, administering a construction contract. A wide range of material is covered, from assembling a request for proposal and comparing fees to having a final audit and deciding whether to assess liquidated damages. Tim explains what matters, what works, what to watch for and where things might go awry. Many questions are addressed along the way: What is a realistic schedule? Will a bonus help the contractor finish on time? Which contractor staffing changes should be avoided? Who is reading the consultant reports and cares about what they say? Is there a way to limit overbilling? These matters and many others are considered, all from the side of ownership. The writing has three underlying goals: Understanding what can be done to set the project up for success. Identifying ways to better protect the owner's interests at each stage in the building effort. And finally, as an informed owner, being able to play a more effective role in helping move the project forward.

Tim is a consultant and writer based on the West Coast. His candid account of the construction process comes from first hand experience, first working on the side of the contractor, later with a developer and finally representing a national real estate investor. He enjoys working with owners, developers and contractors, and finds that building relationships is key to a project's success.
