Présentation The Humanoids Format Broché
- Livre Science-fiction
Résumé : On the far planet Wing IV, a brilliant scientist creates the humanoids--sleek black androids programmed to serve humanity.
But are they perfect servants--or perfect masters?
Slowly the humanoids spread throughout the galaxy, threatening to stifle all human endeavor. Only a hidden group of rebels can stem the humanoid tide...if it's not already too late.
Fist published in Astounding Science Fiction during the magazine's heyday, The Humanoids--sceince fiction grand master Jack Williamson's finest novel--has endured for fifty years as a classic on the theme of natural versus artificial life.
Also included in this edition is the prelude novelette, With Folded Hands, which was chosen for the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.
Biographie: Jack Williamson published his first short story in 1928, and he's been producing entertaining, thought-provoking science fiction ever since. He is the author of Terraforming Earth. The second person named Grand Master by the Science Fiction Writers of America--the first was Robert A. Heinlein--Williamson has always been in the forefront of the field, being the first to write fiction about genetic engineering (he invented the term), anti-matter, and other cutting-edge science. A renaissance man, Williamson is a master of fantasy and horror as well as science fiction. He lives in Portales, New Mexico.
Sommaire:
John Stewart Williamson, known by his pen name Jack Williamson, was an influential American science fiction writer, often referred to as the Dean of Science Fiction. Born on April 29, 1908, in Arizona Territory, he became a prominent figure in the genre and is credited with coining one of the earliest uses of the term genetic engineering. Throughout his career, Williamson explored themes of technological advancement, human evolution, and the potential of science. In the early stages of his writing, he also used pseudonyms like Will Stewart and Nils O. Sonderlund. His contributions to science fiction were vast, and his work influenced generations of writers. Williamson's notable works include novels and stories that delve into the complexities of the future, interstellar exploration, and the relationship between humanity and technology. He lived a long life, passing away on November 10, 2006, in Portales, New Mexico, at the age of 98. His legacy lives on through his contributions to science fiction, and his work remains an essential part of the genre's history....
Without doubt one of the most important science-fantasy books of its decade.--Damon Knight Williamson's best novel, a classic dystopia and the single best work on robot[s]...outside of the world of Isaac Asimov.--Twentieth-Century Science Fiction Writers
