Neural plasticity refers to the ability of the brain to change throughout its lifetime. This change is expressed in terms of change in the proportion of grey matter, strengthening or weakening of synapses and the transfer of functions to different locations. Such changes can be witnessed at the microscopic level of neurons to large-scale changes such as cortical remapping during an injury.
