Résumé :
Neurology is a branch of medicine concerned with the disorders of the nervous system. The diagnosis and treatment of the conditions of the peripheral and central nervous systems, their coverings, blood vessels and all effector tissues is under the scope of this science. Some of such conditions are stroke, dementia, Parkinson's disease, Tourette's syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, etc. A comprehensive medical history in combination with a physical examination helps to evaluate nervous system health. The assessment of the cognitive function, motor strength, reflexes, sensation, coordination and gait is done through a neurological examination. Imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed axial tomography and ultrasonography of the blood vessels of the head and neck are used for further evaluation. Depending on the evaluation, a treatment strategy involving surgery, medications or physical therapy is devised. This book brings forth some of the most innovative concepts and elucidates the unexplored aspects of neurology. The objective of this book is to give a general view of the different neurological conditions and their management strategies.
