The history, symptoms, prevention, and current issues surrounding HIV and AIDS are discussed, along with a focus on special populations struggling with the disease. Kathy S. Stolley is an assistant professor of sociology at Virginia Wesleyan College, Norfolk, VA. She is the author of Greenwood Press book The Basics of Sociology (2005) and of The Praeger Handbook of Adoption (2006).
