Scientists had figured out how to embed human emotions in robots, but what they didn't realize was that humans are very selfish beings. The robots had decided that humans were their competition in claiming the planet as their own, and nearly succeeded in wiping them out. To make sure that humankind never faced extinction from these artificial beings again, all research and development in the field had been shut down, which included humankinds plans to colonize mars. But Lyra, and her mother Brooke, believe that artificial intelligence needn't be bad, and need to convince the government - the fate of the world depends on it. Will they succeed? Or will humankind be faced with extinction once again - not by the robots, but by themselves.
