WE will begin our Lent by trying to humble ourselves before our God, in calling to mind the many and grievous sins which we have committed against Him.

We must fall down before Him as those who are dead and lie in the grave, for the stillness and silence of the grave is the last and deepest humiliation that human nature can know, as it is also the profoundest act Of homage to the majesty of God.

We must remember our sins this day, and repent in dust and ashes, that so being dead unto sin, we may rise to newness of life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
