Excerpt from Regional Anesthesia: Victor Pauchet's Technique This procedure is well known in France, and is often employed in minor operations. Regional anesthesia differs widely from the method Of Reclus. Instead of applying the anes thetic to the terminals of the nerves, it is injected at the point of the origin of the nerve, or along the trunk near the point of origin, so that the whole region supplied by the nerve and its branches is anesthetized. All the major as well as the most deli cate minor operations can be performed in this way. The method has gained many adherents since 1914, and its growing popularity has led us to believe that an exposition of it would be wel comed by the American profession.
