When Someone Dies is appropriate to read to kids after they experience the death of someone they know. The book is also appropriate for a curious child who has been asking questions about death. It was initially intended to be read to children between 3 and 12 years old. When Someone Dies includes tips for adults regarding talking to children about death, advice regarding explaining a specific death, and a link to activities that would be appropriate following reading the book. Laura Camerona, CCLS, the author of this book, worked in a children's hospital for years as a Child Life Specialist. She created this book in the hopes that it could be used as a tool for parents, caregivers, and teachers, giving them gentle and honest words to talk about death and what happens after someone dies.
Biographie:
Laura Camerona, CCLS, started her career as a Child Life Specialist in a children's hospital. After 15 years of working with children and families in a variety of stressful situations, Laura started writing books that caregivers could read with their children. The books help the caregivers find the words for hard important conversations with their own kids. A mom of 3 herself, Laura knows that even when you know what you want to say to your kids, your own emotions and thoughts can get in the way.Laura created Words Worth Repeating with the idea that kids can benefit from simple honest explanations from the people they love. Words Worth Repeating creates both customized books for individual families and books that are appropriate for many different families dealing with a similar stressful situations. Laura loves to collaborate with organizations that can serve their populations by creating books that support families. Her books are inclusive of all family dynamics, races, and cultures. Many of her books are useful in therapy and support group environments as well....
