Before the arrival of settlers in this section, and follow ing the disappearance of the native tribe there was a period during which the primeval forest was disturbed only by the native beasts, or by the last remaining Indian hunters and, occasionally, by the advent of adventurous hunters and trappers oi the succeeding race of white men.
