Seit 2009 haben Slavs and Tatars mehr als zw?lf B?cher zu Themen von der uigurischen Literaturkultur bis zur Satire im Kaukasus ver?ffentlicht. Au?erdem haben sie zahlreiche Poster und Editionen sowie Interventionen und Ephemera f?r angesehene Institutionen wie das MoMA in New York und die Wiener Sezession geschaffen. Urspr?nglich ein informeller Buchclub, hat sich Slavs and Tatars zu einem der wichtigsten internationalen K?nstler*innenkollektive entwickelt. Bis heute befasst sich die Gruppe mit dem Akt des Lesens als kollektivem Ph?nomen. Die Ausstellung ??? ??? im Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee, Belgien, versammelt erstmals alle Druckgrafiken und unterstreicht den rechtm??igen Platz dieses produktiven und zug?nglichen Formats an der Spitze der einzigartigen Medienvielfalt im Schaffen von Slavs and Tatars, die inzwischen auch Installationen, Skulpturen, Audioarbeiten und Filme umfasst.

The First Comprehensive Collection of the Artist Group's Printed Matter

Since 2009 Slavs and Tatars have published several books covering topics from Uyghur literary culture to satire in the Caucasus, many of which have become collector's items. They have also produced an extensive array of posters and editions as well as interventions and ephemera for renowned institutions such as the MoMA, New York, and Vienna's Secession. Having started as an informal book club, Slavs and Tatars has grown into one of the most prominent international artists' collectives. They have been invested in the act of reading as a collective phenomenon throughout their oeuvre. As their practice has grown to include installations, sculptures, audio works, and film, the exhibition ??? ??? (Look Book) at Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee, Belgium, seeks to reactivate the space for print as a generative and accessible format claiming its rightful place at the top of the artists' singular hierarchy of media.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition, ??? ??? offers a comprehensive overview of Slavs and Tatars' printed matter. Featuring essays by Ksenia Nouril and Dina Akhmadeeva, the catalogue demonstrates print's unique ability to convey the conjunction of scholarly analysis, humor, and generosity of spirit that has become a trademark of the collective's output.
