Biographie:
David Mansel Thomas was born in West Wales into a coal mining and agricultural community. In his teens he won an RAF Flying Scholarship but subsequent eyesight deterioration prevented him from pursuing this as a career. Having obtained a degree in Geology and Chemistry at London University, and as a petroleum geologist he embarked on overseas assignments in South East Asia, Libya and Tunisia. He went on to establish a successful natural resources company which was subsequently sold to a competitor. He continues to act as advisor to companies in the same field.

The Schneider Papers was started one autumn evening in a farmhouse in south-west France. His interests include history and archaeology, and is a late arrival to writing books.

He lives with his wife in East Sussex and they both share a love of travel.
