The book in your hands is not fiction. It is a short sample of my daily work; it is a small part of my daily activities with Nala. Each and every page feature something new that both of us learned. The interactions between us, presented here as a narrative, involve evidence-based strategies for teaching. Our ultimate goal is to teach our children to understand the world around them, adapt to the unexpected, and cope with situations in which they may have no control. Nala has taught me so much; to appreciate what is essential, the tender joy in the expectant gaze of a child.

Biographie:
Aida Tarifa-Rodriguez has been learning and searching for the voice of children, youth and adults with language delays, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disability for over 15 years. Her passion is to work directly with children with special needs and their families, providing them with new experiences and individualized strategies that empower them through improving their quality of life both at home and in the community. Aida has a degree in speech-language therapy, specializing in neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. She has a master's degree in psychology. She is also a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
