Résumé :
The cyclical journey between dark and light is one that survivors know well. SURVIVE examines this journey, the fight for one's life with a focus on internal healing, unlearning damaging patterns, practising self-compassion, and transcending trauma. The author writes from her own experience as a young woman surviving sexual abuse, neglect, addiction, and self-harm. Through a cycle of coping and regression comes emergance, growth mindset and healing, SURVIVE explores internal dialogue and internal healing as survivors of abuse learn to cope, love, trust, rest, and thrive. There is a beautiful resonance in the healing process. Each time the darkness comes, the emergent light returns brighter than before, the unlearning and learning is a deepening process. This collection of poems and other writings will resonate with survivors of all ages existing through trauma to heal.

About the Author: Meghan Duffield is a Birth Doula and Certified Childbirth Educator, and an advocate for supported birth experiences. As a Usui Holy Fire III Reiki Master, and student of Shamanic Studies with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, she believes in holistic, spiritual healing grounded in nature. She first started writing at age five, and her experience with childhood sexual abuse and lifelong healing inspired her first book, SURVIVE. With this book, she hopes to support others as they 'strive to thrive' as their authentic selves. Through her own experiences, she hopes to inspire others to find their way, as they focus on the deep dives of self awareness, and continue to put one foot in front of the other. Meghan's love of nature has recently guided her to become a Forest School Practitioner with the Child & Nature Alliance of Canada, and her passion for art, design, and textile inspires her preloved vintage shop, TrueVintage. About the Illustrator: Rodrigo Pradel is a painter, illustrator and muralist born in Chile, later moved and raised in Canada and currently lives and works in the United States. He is a painter in many mediums whose work explores the event horizon between this reality and the other(s).
