Résumé :
Coram Deo: Before the Face of God is historical fiction. It describes the journey of the Rev. Dr. Louis Praamsma and his wife, Nellie, from their place of birth in The Netherlands to their grave in Canada. It documents the struggle to remain orthodox in a rapidly changing religious climate. It also gives a glimpse of the many issues an immigrant family faced when leaving family and homeland behind, entering a new community, interacting with a different culture, and speaking a second language. It celebrates God's providence, his mercy, and grace for those who love Him. Johanna van Belle-Praamsma was born and raised in The Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 with her family. She studied medicine at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands and at the University of Toronto, Ontario where she received her M.D. degree. She practiced college medicine at Florida State University and the University of Washington for more than 35 years. She and her husband make their home in Seattle, WA. U.S.A., where they have raised five children. She is retired and immensely enjoys the gift of nine growing grandchildren. After paying for the costs of producing this book, the proceeds will go to Compassion International. This is in memory of my father and mother who loved children.
