That Wagon in the Window features original photographs of Cali, a wild chipmunk whose foraging life is forever changed when one day, she darts out of the woods and onto Main Street. A miniature storefront window features the object of her desire: a shiny red wagon so perfect, that Cali must have it. With the precision and speed her species is known for, this enterprising chipmunk lines up a series of odd jobs to pay for the wagon and have her dream come true. Cali agreed to let me document every single one of her vocational escapades for this book. While children delight in the imagery of the chipmunk doing daily tasks, adults are amazed that the photographs are actually real and react to the sense of whimsy and nostalgia. The majority of people tend to share a love for animals, and just as many seem to love miniature things. This book combines both, and is for any animal or photography lover..
Biographie:
Meredith Morabito is an artist based in Saugerties NY, and photographs this chipmunk daily. Cali, the chipmunk, is completely wild and lives underground near her studio and has been visiting her for several years. All photos are original and unedited and taken with her iPhone. She does not use photoshop and builds the scenes/sets using miniature pieces she makes or finds at yard sales. She feels lucky enough to have discovered her passion right outside her door in her own backyard and has always had this connection with animals and a unique sense of humor that continues today on her farm of rescue animals. She spends long periods outside every day caring for her animals, but while most are happy on their own, Cali seeks her out and enjoys their unique connection and the weird little worlds she creates for her to explore.Meredith also sells notecards and prints of her work and has sold out whenever they are available, usually at local artist festivals/markets. She has been featured in several publications, highlighting her chipmunk photography and her journey to get here. She posts these photos and videos of the process to her Instagram account @mostlymagicmer where the most frequent comment she gets is these make me so happy! Her ceramic sculptures are on her website www.meredithmorabito.com and her notecards and calendars are on her Etsy shop Mostly Magic Marketplace.
