Résumé :
Excerpt from Access to Telecommunications Technology: Hearing Before the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Finance of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, House of Representatives, One Hundred Third Congress, Second Session, September 30, 1994
Thank you for allowing me the Opportunity to testify on the potential of telecommunications and information technologies for education. It is indeed a pleasure to appear before the committee that again and again has come up with solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing our country. Mr. Chairman, I have seen the results Of this Committee's work across the country, and it has made a profound difference for the American people.
I appear before you today because changes are sweeping through American schools, libraries, colleges, and universities in every state of the union. Many Of these changes result from the introduction Of telecommunications and information technologies into education ranging from easily available tools such as voice mail systems, local area networks, and electronic mail to more complex communications technologies, such as two-way video and v0ice communication and access to the worldwide Internet.
