The Amulet, is many of the old classic books which have been considered important throughout the human history. They are now extremely scarce and very expensive antique. So that this work is never forgotten we republish these books in high quality, using the original text and artwork so that they can be preserved for the present and future generations. This whole book has been reformatted, retyped and designed. These books are not made of scanned copies of their original work and hence the text is clear and readable.

Hendrik Conscience (1812-1883) was a prominent Belgian author and a key figure in the development of Dutch literature. Born in Antwerp, he is best known for his novels that explore Belgian history, culture, and the lives of ordinary people. Conscience's works often reflect his deep patriotism and commitment to the Flemish language and identity during a time when French was dominant in Belgium. His most famous work, The Poor Gentleman, highlights themes of social class and human dignity, telling the story of a nobleman who loses his fortune but maintains his integrity. Conscience wrote extensively, producing novels, plays, and essays that addressed social issues, history, and the human condition. He is credited with helping to popularize the use of the Dutch language in literature and was an influential advocate for Flemish culture.
