In this ground-breaking book, Gregor Maehle shows how the chakras offer a blueprint for the natural evolution of life via single-cell organisms, reptiles, mammals and humans. He draws on his experiences with mind-altering plant agents and chemicals during the late 70's and early 80's, as well as extensive research, to objectively describe how drugs influence each chakra, including their potential but also spiritual setbacks and dangers. The author further explores whether psychoactive substances are a useful supplement, shortcut or accelerator of spiritual evolution. The book culminates in a complete map of transformative and mystical states, including their potential accessibility through psychedelics versus traditional yogic methods. Have you ever asked yourself how the experience of pure consciousness is connected to that of an indigenous shaman? Biographie:
Gregor started his yogic practices in the late 1970s. In the mid- 80s he commenced yearly travels to India, where he learned from various yogic and tantric masters, traditional Indian sadhus and ascetics. He lived many years as a recluse, studying Sanskrit and yogic scripture and practicing yogic techniques. Gregor's textbook series consisting of Ashtanga Yoga: Practice and Philosophy, Ashtanga Yoga: The Intermediate Series, Pranayama: The Breath of Yoga, Yoga Meditation: Through Mantra, Chakras and Kundalini to Spiritual Freedom, Samadhi The Great Freedom, How to Find Your Life's Divine Purpose and Chakras, Drugs and Evolution have sold over 100,000 copies worldwide and so far have been translated into eight languages. His blog articles can be found at www.chintamaniyoga.com. Today Gregor integrates all aspects of yoga into his teaching in the spirit of Patanjali and T. Krishnamacharya.
