I am sure that you do too, people who stop and seek shelter from the storm because they cannot see what dangerous situation may lie in waiting. They play it safe and stop, shaking their heads at the others who keep the accelerator pinned to the floorboard and travel right through, regardless of the outcome. Trust me, in this collection of poems, Dan Provost seeks no overpass to park under for safety. He pushes on, Darting In and Out, full speed ahead writing in a manner that is not reckless, but rather forehanded, as he navigates the highs and lows of love, the memories of a boy that grew into the man he now sees in every mirror, and the erratic rhythm made by the pulse of society. Dan seeks no shelter because he knows, like so many other writers know, that sometimes you just have to hit a storm head-on with forward momentum and push through it to reach the sunshine's open arms waiting for you on the other side.
