Biographie: Robert K. Schaeffer is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Kansas State University. He is the author of Warpaths: The Politics of Partition (1990); War in the World- System (1990); Power to the People: Democratization Around the World (1997); Understanding Globalization: The Social Consequences of Political, Economic, and Environmental Change (1997; 2001; 2005; 2009; 2016); Severed States: Dilemmas of Democracy in a Divided World (1999); Red Inc.: Dictatorship and the Development of Capitalism in China, 1949 to the Present (2012); Social Movements and Global Social Change: The Rising Tide (2014); and with Torry Dickinson, Fast Forward: Work, Gender and Protest in a Changing World (2001); and Transformations: Feminist Pathways to Global Change (2008).
