If weight loss is your focus, combined with the Plant-Based Diet, you can use the following tricks to see more results. A practical first step is to use smaller plates and bowls. A half-empty plate convinces our brain that we are depriving ourselves while a full bowl or plate does the opposite. Another trick our mind plays is that it wants to sample the flavor of everything before it decides it's full. By having only two or three flavors on a plate, you can reduce your consumption and still feel full. This is a great trick for foods like rice and oats. One of the biggest ways we get hidden calories is through beverages. Even 100% pure fruit juice contains a huge number of calories. These can be reduced by diluting the drink with water or club soda. Ideally, we should be drinking plain water only as this is the best way to hydrate your body and cut calories out completely, but if you find that difficult to do, diluting it, to begin with, is a good option.
