Présentation Don Rodriguez de Dunsany, Lord Format Broché
- Livre Fantastique
Résumé :
Don Rodriguez: Chronicles of Shadow Valley (1922). Having established himself as a bestselling author of short fiction, Dunsany published Don Rodriguez: Chronicles of Shadow Valley, his first novel. Recognized as a pioneering author of fantasy and science fiction, Dunsany is a man whose work, in the words of H. P. Lovecraft, remains unexcelled in the sorcery of crystalline singing prose, and supreme in the creation of a gorgeous and languorous world of incandescently exotic vision. In an ancient, mythical Spain, a world of castles, dragons, and magic, Don Rodriguez responds to his father's summons. Before the throne of the Lord of the Valleys of Arguento Harez, the young man learns of his fate. His younger brother, a simple, unskilled man, will inherit the kingdom upon his father's death. Don Rodriguez, a skilled musician and legendary swordsman, must venture off into the unknown in order to prove himself, or die trying. Armed with his father's ancient Castilian blade, he sets out to find a servant to accompany him. His final destination is the mysterious Shadow Valley, a haunted realm from which few ever return. This edition of Lord Dunsany's Don Rodriguez: Chronicles of Shadow Valley is a classic of British fantasy fiction reimagined for modern readers. Since our inception in 2020, Mint Editions has kept sustainability and innovation at the forefront of our mission. Biographie:
Anglo-Irish author and dramatist Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany also known as Lord Dunsany, lived from 18 July 1878 to 25 October 1957. His fantasy book The King of Elfland's Daughter, published in 1924, is his best-known work. Lord Dunsany was a well-known member of the Plunkett family and a distant relative of several prominent Irish figures. In 1916, he separated from Sir Reginald Drax, his only sibling, for unspecified reasons that appear to be connected to his mother's will. One person's infant brother passed away. He sustained injuries from a bullet that became lodged in his skull during the Easter Rising during World War One. He was prosecuted and found guilty of court-martial contempt during the Irish War of Independence. In Shoreham, Kent, he was particularly active during the Battle of Britain. In 1919, Dunsany traveled to America for the first time to promote his writing. He had a good relationship with people like Lady Gregory, Padraic Colum, Oliver St. John Gogarty, AE Russell, Percy French, and W. B. Yeats. In 1957, Lord Dunsany passed away from an appendicitis attack. He was laid to rest at the Shoreham, Kent, churchyard of St. Peter and St. Paul. At a memorial service in Meath's Kilmessan, Crossing the Bar was read....
Sommaire:
Anglo-Irish author and playwright Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany, FRSL (24 July 1878 - 25 October 1957), better known as Lord Dunsany, was born on July 24, 1878, and died on October 25, 1957. During his lifetime, he wrote hundreds of short stories, plays, novels, and articles and put them out in more than 90 books. In the 1910s, most people who spoke English knew him as a great writer. Today, The King of Elfland's Daughter (1924), a fantasy book, and his first book, The Gods of Peg?na, which is about a made-up pantheon, are his most famous works. A lot of reviewers think that his early work paved the way for the magic genre. He was born in London as the heir to an old Irish peerage. He spent some of his childhood in Kent and most of his adult life at Dunsany Castle near Tara, which may be Ireland's oldest home. Along with W. B. Yeats and Lady Gregory, he helped the Abbey Theatre and some other writers. He was Ireland's best at chess and gun, and he liked to travel and hunt. He came up with Dunsany's chess, an irregular game. After a while, Trinity College Dublin gave him an honors doctorate....
