Présentation Shannach de Leigh Brackett Format Relié
- Livre Science-fiction
Résumé :
Even in this grip of alien horror a man could not throw away his lifetime goal . . . and not stand idly by as endless rows of alabaster, shapes seated in their chars of stone, thought-rules this gargoyle planet from the dead blackness of deep Mercurian caverns. Leigh Brackett was the undisputed Queen of Space Opera and the first women to be nominated for the coveted Hugo Award. She wrote short stories, novels, and scripts for Hollywood. She wrote the first draft of the Empire Strikes Back shortly before her death in 1978.
Biographie:
Leigh Brackett (1915-1978) was one of the foremost voices of twentieth-century science fiction and adventure fiction. Celebrated for her richly imagined tales set on Mars and the outer planets, she earned the title Queen of Space Opera for her sweeping narratives and atmospheric prose. Beyond her fiction career, Brackett was also a distinguished screenwriter, contributing to major Hollywood films including The Big Sleep and later The Empire Strikes Back. Her work continues to influence writers and filmmakers with its vivid landscapes, political complexity, and enduring sense of wonder....
Sommaire:
A powerful tale of exile, identity, and interstellar destiny from Leigh Brackett, master of romantic space adventure. In Shannach: The Last, Leigh Brackett tells the story of a man divided between worlds. Shannach is the final survivor of an alien people, raised among humans yet never fully one of them. Branded an outsider and burdened by a legacy he scarcely understands, he is drawn into a struggle that forces him to confront both his origins and his future. Brackett weaves high adventure with psychological depth, exploring themes of belonging, prejudice, and the loneliness of being the last of one's kind. Against a backdrop of planetary conflict and interstellar tension, Shannach must decide whether he is heir to a vanished race or architect of something new. The result is a story that combines action and introspection in equal measure. First published during the Golden Age of science fiction, Shannach: The Last reflects Brackett's distinctive gift for blending sweeping cosmic scale with intimate human drama.
