- Livre
Résumé :
The Teen's Guide to Basic Cooking is divided into two parts. The first part contains all of the instructional material for learning to cook. It covers kitchen equipment and its usage and basic supplies a kitchen should contain. The fundamentals of cooking such as the five basic tastes and how to identify them, and the use of herbs and spices to develop these tastes in food follows. Knife skills and the different cuts that are used in different dishes, plus the different methods of food preparation are demonstrated. The importance of reading a recipe completely and assembling all of the ingredients necessary before beginning to cook are highlighted. How to measure your ingredients and which utensils are required to do so finishes the skills section. Basic Food safety is discussed and why it is so important is the final piece of the instructional guide. The second part of the book is devoted to teen friendly recipes. The emphasis in this section is to present recipes for things teens love to eat. Some vegetable recipes are included, but the majority of the recipes are focus on dishes like wings, pizza, chicken nuggets and other teen favorites. The final set of recipes are for desserts that will find favor with most teens. The emphasis of the book is to lure teens to learning to cook by showing dishes they love to eat in the hope that as time passes, this life skill will be adapted to heathy cooking for their future families.
