Pancake Dad is a delightfully illustrated read-aloud book featuring a dad whose Saturday tradition is to make pancakes with his children in order to spend time together. They use this opportunity to bond and have fun. When they are done making pancakes, they always serve Mom breakfast in bed, because she works so hard during the week. Finally, when everything is done and Mom has been served breakfast, Pancake Dad and his children sit down to eat together. Pancake Dad uses pancakes and cooking as a way to bond with his children and create positive memories. Centered on a strong relationship between the father and his three children, the story also touches on the importance of communication, responsibilities within a family, and familial ties. The author seeks to inspire fathers to prioritize quality time with their children by presenting a model of a loving and engaged father. Too often fathers are absent, not because they are not in the house, but because they are so preoccupied with taking care of everything else. Ken Gordon is a father, husband, and author who has spent many Saturdays enjoying yummy ice cream with his children.Ken, and his wife Leslie, have four adulting children, two beautiful grandchildren, and cockapoo.Now that their children no longer live at home, Ken makes yummy ice cream treats for Leslie, who favorite flavor is Butter Pecan.Writing a children's series was Leslie's idea, which she presented to Ken one Saturday morning. The idea of writing a book about a dad enjoying ice cream with his family brought back wonderful memories from Ken's own childhood. It was these lasting memories that inspired Ken to write a book, encouraging dads to spend time creating wonderful memories for their own families.Additionally, Ken believes fathers should spend time engaging with the children and not just being present. Whether it is at the ice cream parlor, in the kitchen, at the dining room table, or playing games, a dad should spend time and create lasting memories for his children, as Ken did for his, and as Ken's dad did for him.
