Through other clues, including a wedding ring found in the trousers of the victim, the context of the crime seems nearly impenetrable. When a second body is discovered, with the word Rache once again scrawled in blood. With his astounding skill, Holmes is able to lead the killer directly into his trap. Once the killer is revealed, it is his heartbreaking story, set in the lawless wilds of the pioneering days of the American West that is told. Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a Scottish author best known for his classic detective fiction, although he wrote in many other genres including dramatic work, plays, and poetry. He began writing stories while studying medicine and published his first story in 1887. His Sherlock Holmes character is one of the most popular inventions of English literature, and has inspired films, stage adaptions, and literary adaptations for over 100 years.
