In a new marriage, what happens when the husband brings his cute little terrier into a household where the wife already has her own biological dog? If the wife is Sara Swan Miller, she finds a way for her own dog, Natasha, to tell the world that she isn't so happy about the new family member, whose name is Sylvia. But over time, Natasha gets to know Sylvia and her funny ways, and the two step-sisters find reasons to not only get along, but to like and even to love each other. It's the kind of true-life story of a new marriage that not only happens with dogs, but with children as well, Everybody gets to figure out how to get along, or way better than that, just as Natasha and Sylvia do.
Biographie:
Sara Swan Miller is the author of more than 70 books for children. Her works about animals show an uncanny ability to speak the minds and zany imaginations of dogs, cats, and other critters. Her memories of a wonderfully playful childhood are carried into the way she captures the language of children of any age. And so, children as well as their parents love the authenticity of Sara's writing. They show the skill and warmth that guided her careers as a Montessori teacher, an outdoor environmental educator, and a parent. Hee books that ask children to read dedicated stories to their pet dog, cat, or where a live animal isn't around, their teddy bear, have not only encouraged new readers, but have had bigger effects: less TV, more reading for the fun of it. Sara passed away in 2020, but the legacy of her stories will delight children as well as their parents for all the years to come.
