Winner of the 2020 Kathryn A. Morton Prize in Poetry, judged by Alberto R?os.; It's unfortunate how a book focused on the Civil Rights Era and segregation is still ever timely. This is a work of huge and still urgent importance. ; Hughey cofounded and is now the Programming Director at Desert Island Supply Co. (DISCO) (http://www.discobham.com/) , a literary community designed to serve children of the Birmingham area. She's previously worked for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the Center for Talented Youth, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. ; Her husband is Chip Brantley, the co-creator and co-host of White Lies, an investigative podcast from NPR, and he of course wants to maximize this relationship and help us land coverage from NPR. ;She has family in Boston and Nashville. ; Hughey's first book, Sunday Houses the Sunday House, won the Iowa Poetry Prize.
