Newton Booth Tarkington (1869-1946) was an American dramatist and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist. Among only three other novelists to have won the Pulitzer Prize more than once, Tarkington was one of the greatest authors of the 1910s and 1920s who helped usher in Indiana's Golden Age of literature. First published in 1916, Tarkington's novel Penrod and Sam is the second installment to The Penrod Series and concentrates on the relationship between Penrod Schofield and his best friend, Sam Williams. Biographie:
Jeremy Beer, a native of Indiana, is president of the American Ideas Institute. He is the author of The Philanthropic Revolution: An Alternative History of American Charity, and coeditor of American Conservatism: An Encyclopedia. He co-founded the influential localist web journal Front Porch Republic in 2009. He and his wife, Kara, live in Phoenix, Arizona.
