Résumé :
Jama's Circle, written by Ingrid Parham and illustrated by Lisa Chalfant, takes you on a journey with eight-year-old Jama, who is in love with her life! She has three best friends who are more like sisters, two wonderful parents, two brothers she enjoys being around most of the time, and the cutest, cuddly dog! However, everything comes to a complete stop, when Jama learns she has COVID-19. She finds herself overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, and isolation. With the support of her circle of family and friends, Jama finds comfort and is hopeful that she will get through this challenging time. This engaging and compelling children's book explains a real-world event in a simple way that young readers can understand and connect to their own experiences.
Biographie:
Ingrid Parham is the author of Jama's Circle, her first children's book. She is an assistant principal of an elementary school who passionately advocates for children's literacy and social-emotional wellness. For as long as she can recall, Ingrid has had a love affair with books. She is dedicated to stimulating in children the same love for reading and writing. ? As a child, Ingrid didn't have a lot of money but felt rich when she could curl up with a good book. Ingrid often pretended she was the protagonist in each of the books she read; she still does. As a teenager, Ingrid fell in love with romance novels and believed that all stories should have a happy ending. She also enjoyed a good mystery, pretending to be the detective on a mission to solve a problem. Through books, Ingrid traveled the world, dined and socialized with kings, queens, and dignitaries, saved the day, and returned home just in time for dinner! When Ingrid became a teacher, she committed to develop in her students the same love for reading and writing that she enjoyed. Many of her students became inspired to get lost in the reading and writing processes because of her enthusiasm and passion for it. Ingrid is dedicated to sharing and introducing to young readers engaging stories, positive messages and memorable lessons that espouse a strong connection between real-world events and their personal experiences.
