Résumé :
Forty years ago, when they were both eighteen, it took Sam Roberts one summer to fall in love with Maggie McWilliams. Then it was time for college for both of them; they broke up and went their separate ways. Maggie moved on, got married, established herself in an academic career, and had twin daughters. Sam built a successful broadcasting career of his own-but he has never gotten over Maggie. Now, at fifty-eight, Maggie is a semiretired widow, and her daughters are adults. Although Sam has never wanted to be a home-wrecker, he has kept up with Maggie's life from a distance. He decides to pay her a visit one weekend and see whether he can convince her that they are meant to be. Sam wants to spend the rest of his life with Maggie, but there's one problem: her life has been turned upside down, and the last thing she wants is another man. In this novel, a man in his late fifties revisiting his first love has a single weekend to persuade her to give their relationship a second chance.
Biographie: Mike Whitehead attended the University of North Texas, where he served as the editor of the student newspaper, the North Texas Daily. During his distinguished career in journalism spanning more than thirty years, he has written and edited for newspapers in Texas, California, Oregon, and Louisiana. He is also the publisher and editor of SB Magazine in Shreveport, where he lives with his wife, Martha. The Weekend is his debut novel.
