The Fusgeyers were the thousands of Romanian Jews who, unwilling to tolerate anti-Semitism, left their country on foot between 1899 and 1907, and headed for North America. Destitute but resolute, they supported themselves by giving theatrical performances, or selling stories and poems. Biographie:
Born in New York, raised in Toronto, Jill Culiner has been living in England, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, and France. A social critical artist, narrator, writer, and photographer, her exhibition of the lost Jewish villages, La M?moire Effac?e, toured France, Canada, and Hungary under the auspices of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNESCO.
