Mia turned on her light. She took the lid off Cheetah's box. She couldn't see Cheetah at first. Then she spied her hiding in the grass. Mia ran her finger gently down Cheetah's back. Cheetah trembled. Don't be scared, Cheetah, Mia whispered. She picked Cheetah up and held her close. Oh, Cheetah, she said sadly, am I your monster? Mia longs to keep her new frog forever, but her mom and dad say that Cheetah must return to the pond at the end of the week. What is Mia to do?

Biographie:

Wendy A. Lewis is the author of several stories and books. Her collection Graveyard Girl received the Canadian Authors' Association Vicky Metcalf Award for excellence in young adult short fiction. Wendy loves to visit schools and libraries to talk about the writing process and conduct creative writing workshops. She lives in Uxbridge, Ontario with her family.
